For a large cat, choose a cat tree with a wide, heavy base, thick posts, perches long enough to stretch out on and a stated weight limit above your cat’s weight, then read the shipping and return terms. Black Friday is November 27, 2026, and Cyber Monday is November 30.

When are Black Friday and Cyber Monday in 2026?

Thanksgiving is Thursday, November 26, 2026. Black Friday follows on November 27 and Cyber Monday on November 30. Offers change every year and every listing stands alone, so judge each tree by what it is.

What to compare in a cat tree for a big cat

Cat trees sold for large cats vary widely on height, post thickness and stated weight limit. The examples below are the makers’ own figures for three trees, so treat them as claims and leave a margin.

Spec What it tells you Makers’ figures
Height How high your cat can climb, and how hard a jump pushes on the base 40 in (Queensplace XXL), 46 in (New Cat Condos), 80.3 in (Armarkat A8104)
Post diameter How thick the main supports are 3.5 in (A8104), 8 in sisal (Queensplace XXL)
Bottom panel How wide a footprint holds the tree up 24 by 24 in (Queensplace XXL)
Top perch Whether a long cat can lie stretched out 25 in round (Queensplace XXL)
Stated weight limit The load the maker will put its name to 40 lb per cat (A8104), 88 lb (Queensplace XXL), none stated (New Cat Condos)
Wall fixing Whether a strap comes with it Wall safety strap included (A8104)

Our guide to cat trees for large cats goes further into the trade-off between height and thickness.

Which base and posts hold a heavy cat?

Look at the bottom of the tree first. The American Association of Feline Practitioners says scratchers should be “stable enough so they do not move or fall over,” and Cats Protection asks for “a heavy, stable base so it doesn’t wobble or topple.” Both are writing about scratching surfaces, and a tree with sisal posts is one. A big cat jumping on or off the top puts more force through the tree, so any wobble matters more.

Thick posts and a broad panel are the two things to compare. If a listing gives neither, ask for the figures before you order.

What perch size does a Maine Coon need?

The AAFP and ISFM environmental needs guidelines give no number for a Maine Coon or any other cat; they say perches should be “wide enough and long enough to allow the cat to fully stretch.” So use your own cat as the measure: note how long your cat is when lying flat, then compare that with the perch sizes in the listing. Our large breeds size table shows how big the breeds get if you are buying ahead for a young cat.

Is a tall cat tower safe for a heavy cat?

A tall tower can suit a heavy cat if the base or a wall fixing matches the height. Armarkat includes a wall safety strap with its 80.3-inch A8104, and using a supplied strap costs nothing. Cornell Feline Health Center advises against heavy objects that could fall on a cat during play, which is the risk to weigh on any tall tower. In the middle of a room, away from a wall, a shorter tree with a thick pole avoids the need for an anchor.

The taller the tower, the more the base and any wall fixing matter. Check whether a strap or anchor kit is included.

How to judge a cat tree listing

Find the exact model. Look it up on the maker’s site and check that the height, post size and perch sizes match the listing.

Make sure it is a whole tree. Replacement posts, sisal rope and hammocks can share the same title words as a full tree, so read the title through and look at the photos.

Check how it reaches you. Big trees are heavy: Cat Tree King lists the Queensplace XXL at about 40 pounds. Confirm how it ships and whether assembly is needed before you order, and confirm the delivery date if it is a gift.

Read the terms, then keep them. The FTC advises checking delivery dates and refund policies before you buy online, and keeping your order number, return policy, shipping costs and warranty details.

A tree that doubles as the main scratching spot needs sisal that reaches above your cat at full stretch; our page on scratching posts for large cats covers that. For other presents, see gifts for big cat lovers, and for the rest of the sized-up basics, the supplies hub.
